Salutations and a warm Minnesota welcome to Thorne Crest Retirement Community - an American Baptist Homes of the Midwest Community.
Thorne Crest is located in Albert Lea, Minnesota where the local people find enjoyment in the many surrounding lakes, parks, and rich history. Within our long-term care community, this same passion for the outdoors, sports, and history radiates from our residents.
The history of Thorne Crest, in Albert Lea, starts as part of a Catholic school. Soon afterward the building were not is use by the school and a new concept in senior health care was just being introduced in the industry, that was a called a “Continuum of Care”. Thorne Crest created and used to bring the concept to reality. Today Thorne Crest is the first and is still the only long-term care community with services all under one roof.
Walking through the door at Thorne Crest is like walking into a treasured friend’s home. Each holiday is celebrated throughout the community with decorations and crafts that reflect the residents’ talents. Cookies baking in the ovens, along with pies, and numerous other goodies can be found at coffee and meal times and in fact, almost any time of the day. Around every corner someone welcomes you with a smile and a helping hand. The social calendar includes daily activities along with some specially planned outings to local restaurants and events such as Civic Music and the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center, keeping everyone entertained and busy!
Thorne Crest is very unique in that it is the only local long-term care community that has all services under one roof. We have senior living apartments that offer fine dining, Customized Care with the option of Memory Care if needed. We also provide a comprehensive health care.
- Our Independent Living offers 1 and 2 bedrooms options that enable our residents to live independently. If they need certain services such as assistance with their medications, we can do that as we do have a nurse on duty at all hours of the day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- Our Customized Care offers assisted living to those residents who may need more assistance with activities of daily living. We have also included 3 meals a day, housekeeping services, and medication assistance if needed.
- Our Memory Care is assisted living as well but it is tailored to those who may need more care and a special environment for those with Alzheimer’s disease.
- Our xHealth Care Wing is a skilled nursing area that can accommodate any resident who needs specific care for rehabilitation, memory loss, and assistance with daily living.
Thorne Crest also offers transportation services to local attractions and appointments such as: medical, banking or pharmacy of your choice.
