Located in southern Minnesota, this wonderful community boasts of clean, safe residential streets, a vibrant downtown and a myriad of shopping and dining options. Long known as The Gateway from the South, Albert Lea is home to about twenty thousand residents and serves as a regional anchor for this part of the state.
With over ten lakes within the city limits, a myriad of parks and recreational areas and miles of walking trails, Albert Lea's residents take full advantage of the many amenities this beautiful part of the state offers. Downtown Albert Lea has a number of sites designated by the National Registry as historic and the thriving arts community is anchored by The Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. Churches of all denominations are located throughout the city. Albert Lea also serves as a regional center for the world renowned Mayo Health System of Rochester, MN. Mayo's medical center houses both a clinic and a hospital as well as The Regional Cancer Center.
Most recently, Albert Lea has been internationally recognized as a "Blue Zone" city through its participation The Vitality Project. This unique, city-wide effort to improve health and well being is a working illustration of what makes Albert Lea such a special place; civic engagement, caring and a true sense of community.
